Details:

This car was built to run the Carrera Panamericana but never did. It was
prepared by David Loring. IMSA racer Pierre Honegger intended to run the
race but circumstances did not permit it. The car is equipped with a
full roll cage, fuel cell, Sparco Evo driver's seat, Corbeau passenger
seat, fire system, 965-style close gate shifter, plastic windows,
Simpson safety belts and louvered removable engine bay cover. The engine
was slightly detuned (compression lowered) to address the rigors of the
Carrera Panamericana road race. The car runs 12-volt electrics with the
required external on/off switch. It has race gauges including Motometer
tachometer. This Porsche rides on Fuchs wheels.

Strong, proven reliable and quick, this car is offered at a fraction of its build cost. Coleman engineering Volvo B-20 engine (180BHP on pump gas, dyno sheet available), race prepared 5-speed overdrive transmission, limited slip differential, reinforced and tuned suspension, big brakes. Body shell shot blasted, reinforced and refinished in Glasurit 55 line silver with Blue/yellow accents. Safety enhancements include full weld in cage, carbon Kevlar seating, fire system, 6-point harnesses, high capacity fuel cell and more. This Car has run both Mexico’s La Carrera Pan Americana rally (3 times) and the border challenge. It has won it’s class and placed well up among much more powerful competition.

First In Class and Second Overall in the 2004 inaugural running of the demanding 4000KM border Challenge rally. This car is the class-winning car driven by Bill Shanahan and Murray Smith. Consistent class winner in Historic A class of La Carrera pan Americana rally. Contested La Carrera in 2001, 2002, and 2003, placing respectively in Historic A class second, first, and first. In 2002, the car finished 13th overall, and in 2003 the car finished 11th overall. This is the most competitive 4-cylinder car in the Carrera today. There is no other Historic A car that even comes close to the durability, handling, and performance of this car.
